    Wayne was born on February 5, 1943 and passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Wayne was a resident of Clayton, New York at the time of his passing. He graduated in 1962 from Cape Vincent Central School. He served in the Navy from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife Sandra. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral home Inc. in Clayton. A calling hour will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Donations can be made in his name to the local Chapter of the American Heart Association.

In 1960, when he was 17 years old, on May 1st, an American CIA U-2 spy plane, piloted by Francis Gary Powers, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile over the Soviet Union. Powers ejected and survived but was captured. The U.S. claimed that the U-2 was a "weather plane" but Powers was convicted in the Soviet Union of espionage. He was released in 1962 after 1 year, 9 months and 10 days in prison.
