Wilford C. Mesic was born to Charles Henry Mesic (1879 - 1956) and Mary L. Knickerbocker (1878 - 1935). His father was born in Michigan, as was his mother. He had two sisters, Margretta May and Josephine L. Mesic and a brother, Carl S. Mesic. He had another sister, Edith, who died as an infant. Wilford Mesic was killed in action in World War II in France on October 1, 1944. Before being stationed in France, he had been in Italy in July of 1944. See Wilford C Mesic: Obituary.

He entered service December 4, 1942 , went overseas to Italy in July 1944, and later transferred to France. He attended school at Harpersville and Sidney, graduating from the Sidney Central school in 1941. He was born on July 7, 1922.
