Introduction

Will Searcy was my great grandfather and was affectionately known as “Papa”. He was married to Etta Mae Royal of Turner County and lived on a farm near Inaha (Sycamore) Georgia. Searcy Road is named after him and winds around the countryside where the old homestead once stood. They had 2 sons, William Grayer Searcy (my grandfather) and Charles Julian Searcy, and 4 daughters, Annie, Ruby, Mamie and Mattie Sue. Farm life was all he ever new. Papa and Momma Searcy’s life was a simple one of kindness, devotion, love, and working together to raise their family. I remember the best of times going to their house every Sunday afternoon to visit and Momma Searcy walking to the shelf in their tiny kitchen to get us grand young ‘uns a piece of hard candy from the glass candy jar. 😊

This is my great grandfather. He was born in 1879. He was a farmer in Turner County, Georgia. He married my great grandmother, Etta Mae (Royal) Searcy and had six children, son, my grandfather, William Grayer Searcy, son, Julian, daughters, Annie, Ruby, Mamie and Mattie Sue. He lived to be 108 years old and was lovingly cared for my my Aunt Ruby Barry of Turner County in his later years.
