He married Charlotte Ann (Wilson) McConathy on September 24, 1956, and they were married until William's death on February 12, 2004. He had children Roy A McConathy and James Michael McConathy. William Mcconathy was buried on February 14, 2004 at Calvary Gardens in Fort Oglethorpe, Catoosa County.
