William Abner Forrester 1859 - 1941

William Abner Forrester of Collwood Australia was born in 1859 in Collingwood, City of Yarra County, VIC to Zephaniah Forrester and Caroline Wilson Forrester. He had siblings Walter Francis Forrester, Caroline Ada (Forrester) Stagg, Martha Sophia (Forrester) Pattison, Zephaniah Forrester, and Elizabeth Sabina (Forrester) Elderfield. He married Sarah Elizabeth (Hipwell) Forrester in 1888, and had a child Percival Roy Forrester. William Forrester died at age 81 years old on November 12, 1941 in Wonthaggi, Bass Coast Shire County.

In 1859, in the year that William Abner Forrester was born, on October 16th, abolitionist John Brown led a raid on Harpers Ferry Armory in Harper's Ferry, Virginia, in an attempt to start a slave rebellion. He wanted to "liberate" the guns in the armory and arm slaves. Brown was captured and hanged on December 2nd.
