William A Swanborough was born to parents Joseph J Swanborough and Fanny C Swanborough on November 20, 1892 in Chippenham, Wiltshire County, England, United Kingdom. He was the oldest child with younger siblings Albert P Swanborough and Edith M Swanborough. William enlisted in the UK Army in Chippenham, Wilts and held the rank of private. He served in the Wiltshire Regiment and was a member of the 1st/4th Battalion. During his time in the military, William was deployed to the Egyptian Theatre where he served with distinction. However, tragedy struck on November 7, 1917, when he was killed in action while bravely defending his country.
