He had siblings Frances Harold Gordon Moyle, Ruby Irene Mary Moyle, Arthur Henry Moyle, and Mary Frances Cora Moyle. He married Alice May Martin Moyle, and had children Frances Ida May Moyle, Edith Cora Lillian Moyle, William James Downing Moyle, Herbert Stanley Gordon Moyle, Thelma Florence Maude Moyle, and Francis Stanley Maxwell Moyle. William Moyle died at age 57 years old on May 31, 1948 in Ballarat.

Herman Hollerith's "tabulating machine" used punch cards to more quickly compute census information, taking the time to get census results from 8 years in 1880 to 6 years for the 1890 census. Hollerith's company eventually became IBM.
