    William Charles Stanton was born on November 24th, 1905 in Staffordshire, England to Albert Stanton (1877 - 1918) and Ellen Cooper, born 1886. Both of his parents were born in England. He had three siblings: one sister, Matilda May (1902 - 1982) and two brothers, Thomas Henry (1907 - 1973) and Albert (1908 - 1954). William Stanton married Florence May Palmer in 1935. There is no record of children. William volunteered for The South Staffordshire Regiment of the United Kingdom during World War II and was killed in action in France during the war at the age of 38.. He is buried in Fontenay-le-Pesnel War Cemetery in Fontenay-le-Pesnel, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France
