William Cranston Murray. was born in 1849 at Haning in Bendemeer, Tamworth Regional Council County, NSW Australia to Robert Murray and Jane Mary Murray ( Blair, and had siblings Elizabeth Margaret Glover ( Murray, Peter Oliver Murray, Mary Ann Murray., Andrew Murray.., Robert John Murray, and Isabel Carvall ( Allingham ( Murray. He married Mary Ann Murray, and had children Donald Cranston Murray, Stanley Murray, James Mackenzie Murray, and Minnie Murray. William Murray. died at age 78 years old in 1927.

    Three of his son's served in the Great War, Donald, Stanley and James McKenzie ( Kenny ), the eldest Don was awarded the Military Medal, but made the supreme sacrifice. The Manilla Express, N.S.W., July 1927. MR. W. C. MURRAY OF BENDEMEER. The late Mr. Murray has a unique family history, dating back to the year 1669 to John Murray of Kobkirk, in the parish of Upper Rulewater, Roxburgh, who aquired a burial place in the kirkyard of Bedrule.

    The Armidale Express & New England Advertiser, Friday 24th July 1927. BENDEMEER. DEATH OF W. C. MURRAY. Quite a gloom was cast over the neighbourhood when the sad news spread of the death of Mr. William Cranston Murray, at his residence, Twinbrook, last Saturday morning. After taking a walk prior to partaking his breakfast, Mr. Murray sat down in his easy chair to rest, his daughter Miss Minnie, heard him sigh heavily, and saw a great change had suddenly overtaken him, she called out to her brother Mr. Norman Murray, and he found that his father had passed away. Mr. W. C. Murray was 77 years and 10 months old. His wife whose death was a great blow to him, predeceased him by three years. Mr. Murray was a strict adherent to the Presbyterian faith, and a regular attendant at the little kirk which he and his respected father, the late Mr. Robert Murray, helped to build. He was also a Justice of the Peace. " Now the laborer's task is over, now the battle-day is passed; Now upon the future shore, Lands the voyager at last." The Manilla Express, July 1927. Mr. W. C. MURRAY OF BENDEMEER. Deceased was born at Haning, in 1849, and later aquired a portion of the estate ( now Twin Brook ), where he resided till his death. He leaves four sons and two daughters, namely; Messrs. W. O. Murray ( Uralla ), J. H. Murray ( Strathallyn, Kootingal ), S. T. Murray ( Hill Top, Bendemeer ), N. S. Murray ( Twin Brook ) and Mrs. P. B. Reid ( Adamstown ) and Miss M. R. Murray ( Twin Brook ). One son D. C. Murray, M.M, was killed during the war.
