    William burton was my fathers brother so I would be his nephew, my father use to talk about him being in the navy 0n the HMS RECRUIT as1st class stoker, plus a good boxer in the service, he died on the 1st may 1915, the ships andsunk with in a few minuetis, they said if he had reached the surface he would have lived as he was a very good swimmer,plus he was born e with webb toes, so could tread water with ease.

In 1814, on September 14th, Francis Scott Key wrote what we now know as the lyrics of the Star-Spangled Banner while he watched the British attack on Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor. He originally wrote a poem titled "Defence of Fort M'Henry". The lyrics of the poem were then set to the tune of a popular English song. It wasn't until 1931 that the song became the official national anthem of the United States.

In 1821, on July 10th, the United States took possession of the recently acquired territory of Florida from Spain.
