William Eugene Lareau 1918 - 1967

William Lareau was born on April 30, 1918 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan United States. He was in a relationship with Maudellen (Beckman) Lareau, and had children William E. Lareau Jr., Kenneth L. Lareau Sr., and Janet Ellen (Lareau) Shaw. William Lareau died at age 49 years old in August 1967 in Downers Grove, DuPage County, IL, and was buried in La Grange, Cook County.

In 1918, in the year that William Eugene Lareau was born, on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.

In 1928, he was merely 10 years old when aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
