WILLIAM E. FEINBLOOM DIES IN DAYTON, OHIO William E. Feinbloom, president of Champion Knitwear Company here, was found dead yesterday afternoon in the home of a daughter in Dayton, ohio. He was 66. Mr. and Mrs. Feinbloom had arrived Tuesday in Dayton from Florida to visit their daughter, Mrs. John (Ann) Bloom, and her three children. Dayton police said Mr. Feinbloom apparently died of a pistol wound in the head. The body was found about 3:30 p.m. by a granddaughter, Wendy Bloom, 7, in the Blooms' sunroom. It was reported that an Italian-make pistol was discovered nearby, and that a note was left. Its contents were not disclosed. Rochester relatives said Mr. Feinbloom had a heart ailment. The Feinbloom residence here is at 200 Ambassador Drive, Brighton. Their daughter in Dayton is the wife of a pediatrician. Mr. Feinbloom and his brother, Abe, who is vice-president of Champion Knit, have operated the business for many years. The company is regarded as the leading producer and distributor of knitwear and athletic uniforms in the country, supplying major football and basketball teams. The University of Notre Dame, for instance, is one of its biggest customers. Schools and children's camps also are major customers. Three Rochester factories and three in area villages - Perry, Geneseo and Livonia - turn out the company's products. The company was founded in 1921 by Abraham Feinbloom and his father, Simon, who had come here from Poughkeepsie. William Feinbloom was born in Binghamton, attended Middletown High School and was graduated with a bachelor of science degree from New York University, where he was a member of Pi Lamda Phi fraternity. Besides his widow, Mildred, his brother, Abe, and his married daughter, Mr. Feinbloom is survived by another daughter, Joan Feinbloom of Boston; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Wolin of Brighton, and his three grandchildren in Dayton. Funeral arrangements are being made by the Parsky Funeral Home, 1125 St. Paul Street, where the body will be sent following an autopsy in Dayton. - Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, New York) Thursday, April 12, 1962 on page 4.
