  • Introduction

    William Flynt was the son of the Revolutionary War patriot, Richard Flynt ( 1720-1792) and his second wife, Ann Fountain (1737-1796). He also served in the Revolution. He was born 23 May 1762, in Richmond County, Virginia. William married Elizabeth Ballard (1765-1838) on 18 Jan 1788 in Culpepper County, Virginia. Together they had 11 children. The children were: Sandy Alexander (1789-1867) and his twin brother, Sanford Perry (1789-1840), James (1790-1815), John Pollard (1798-1859), Proctor B. (1799-1845),Nancy Permelia (1803-1869),William (1804-1858), Allen (1807-1866), Elizabeth B. (1805-1879), Fountain W. (1809-1880), Lucinda (B.?-D: after 1880). William died 21 Jan 1810 in Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was buried alongside other family members on the property of the Historic Flynt House in Rural Hall, N.C. After some of the property was sold, the Flynt Family Cemetry was moved next to the Kingswood United MethodistChurch.
