William Freist was Born as "Friedrich Wilhelm Freist" is a village called Langenweddingen, South of the City of Magdeburg, formerly Saxony Province, today Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. He got married to Anna Louise Oelgardt in 1900. They went to the US in 1910 to settle down in Illinois. In 1920 William got naturalized.
