He married Ellen Baldock Goodall, and had a child Susan Goodall. William Goodall died at age 76 years old on November 17, 1885 at Wanstead Farm in Warrnambool, VIC Australia, and was buried at Warrnambool Cemetery in Warrnambool.
William Goodall was born to John Goodall (1758 - 1825) and Elizabeth Gething (1765 - 1830). He had siblings Anne, Martha, Thomas, Hannah, John (died 1791 as an infant), Henry, Jane, John (born 1806) and Edward Goodall. He also had one half-sister, Elizabeth Goodall.
William Goodall was one of 208 convicts transported to Australia on the ship the Lady Harewood on 24 March 1829.
William married Ellen Baldock in 1836 in Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia. They had nine children: Jane, Susan, Edward, John, William, Henry, Thomas, Edwin, and Eleanor Goodall.
In 1885 William was convicted of horse stealing and sent to Tasmania.
