Add Memories, Stories & Photos about William

My father was an MP for the US Army during World War II.. One day he was walking down the street with a large shoe box. My two girls saw the box and asked him what he had inside. He replied champagne. Naturally they thought he was lying, after all, they were in Italy and the Italians were starving. The girls insisted that he was lying and he had something else. He then made a bet with them. He said, " if I have champagne you and your sister come have a drink with me. If I have anything else then you can have heats inside". The one girl figured she would win either way and the bet was made. Well it turns out that he was carrying champagne. So the girls walked cautiously behind him. A block behind, so that Italian men would not see them together. They were. In fear that they would be punished by having their hair cut off. He brought them to the guard tower and they shared the champagne and this is how my parents met. Maria
