At the time of the 1911 census he resided with his family at 22 Greasbro Rd Rotheram. His occupation at the Steel mills there was a Siemens Furnace Operative. He enlisted into the Army at Stocksbridge in Sheffield and is registered as Killed in action age 26 in France & Flanders. He is listed on the Delville wood Roll of Honour Also listed on the Great Central Railway Roll of Honour Holiday Inn. He was awarded the 15 star medal. He was the son of Henry and Selina Attwood who made the Supreme Sacrifice for his country. His brother also Killed in battle was Private Edward Attwood.
