He had siblings George Talbot Bateman, Frank Ernest Bateman, Clarence Joseph Bateman, Ellen Caroline Elizabeth Bateman, Arthur Charles Bateman, and Edward George Bateman. William Bateman died at age 49 years old on March 6, 1915 in Fitzroy North, and was buried at Ypres (menin Gate) Memorial Panel 51 And 53. in Belgium.
