He was in a relationship with Fanny (Robinson) Espenett, and had children Frederick Dansays Espenett, Thomas Edward Espenett, William Henry Espenett, and Fanny Margaret (Espenett) Romanis. William Espenett died at age 77 years old on November 5, 1908 in Oakleigh, Monash City County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery 600 Princes Hwy, in Springvale, Greater Dandenong City County.

Twins William Henry and Cecil David Espenett born 28th Sept. 1865 both died October 1865. Left London on the clipper Malabar on 6th September 1875 arrived in Port Phillip with family on 26th December 1875. The Portland Guardian and Normanby Advertiser. Victoria. 24th December 1875. THE MALABAR. - The frigate built clipper, Malabar, G. A. Mackerness, commander, one of Messrs Green's passenger ships, is advertised to leave the Sandridge Railway Pier on the 20th January next. The saloon cabins are specially suited for families, and fitted with cabin furniture, are roomy, well lighted, and thoroughly ventilated. There are ladies' and gentlemen's bathrooms, and a milch cow is carried. Accommodations of a most superior kind are provided for second and third class passengers; the passage money ranges from £16 upwards. ( Capt. George Alfred Mackerness, born 1840, Parish of St. Margaret, Westminster, London died 6th April 1891, Surrey, U.K., married to Frances Lee in 1887, at Kensington, London. )
