William Henry Haymes 1868 - 1959

William Henry Haymes of Richmond, City of Yarra County, VIC Australia was born on April 16, 1868 in Napier, Hawke's Bay New Zealand to Arthur Haymes and Charlotte Anderson Haymes. He married Emmeline Margaret Bailey in 1891, and had children William Thomas Newsome Haymes, Albert William Newsome Haymes, Ivy Emmeline Haymes, Leslie Stanley Ralph Haymes, and Alice Margaret Haymes. William Haymes died at age 91 years old in 1959 in Fitzroy Australia.

In 1868, in the year that William Henry Haymes was born, on February 24th, three days after his attempt to dismiss United States Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton - who was opposed to Johnson's leniency towards the former Confederacy - the US House of Representatives voted (126 to 47) to impeach Andrew Johnson. Johnson was later acquitted in the Senate by one vote short of the required 2/3rds.Senators crossed party lines to keep Johnson as President.
