  • Introduction

    William's father was William P Selvitelle. His mother was Susan and he had a brother, Michael. "Billy" was in high school when his father was summoned to the school because Billy was suffering from "chest pains." William Sr rushed Billy to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth Massachusetts where he died a short time later. Tests conducted at Children's Hospital indicated that he died when connective tissue of the aorta separated and cause internal bleeding. Billy accomplished a lot in his short life. He was a straight "A" student, played trumpet in his high school band, and was a member of the drama club at school. He was also a former Cub Scout and alter boy in his church, chosen citizen of the year in the 5th grade, and a delegate to the DARE convention in 7th grade. In his obituary, Billy's father said "We figure he'd either be the president or a priest. He had big dreams. He just wanted to help people. Billy was a once-in-a-lifetime kid. He was my best friend.     From the Boston Globe, Boston Massachusetts: Bill had recently returned with his family from a Fouth of July vacation in Washington DC, where he talked of one day becoming president of the United States. "We figured he'd either be the president or a priest. He had big dreams. He just wanted to help people" his father said, adding: "Billy was a once-in-a-lifetime kid He was my best friend." Besides his father, Bill leaves his mother Susan, his brother Michael, his grandparents, Philip and Patricia Spring of Wollaston and Eleanor Selvitell of Dorchester, and several aunts and uncles.

In 1982, in the year that William P Selvitelle was born, on September 14th, Princess Grace of Monaco (American actress Grace Kelly), 52, died of injuries when her car plunged off a mountain road. Her 17 year old daughter, Stephanie, was also in the car and suffered serious injuries but recovered. It's believed that the accident was caused when Princess Grace, who was driving, had a mild stroke.

In 1991, the public was confused about the difference between HIV and AIDS (HIV is a virus that can lead to AIDS) and there was little treatment for either.
