    William Robert Roddy was born in Taylor, Texas. He was named after his father William Roddy and uncle Robert Roddy. After serving in the Austin, Texas Police Force, he joined the Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot in World War II. His B24 plane and all aboard went missing in action in Europe on Feb. 17, 1944. He was declared dead on Feb. 18, 1945.
