William Spence Mappin 1841 - 1943

William Spence Mappin was born in 1841 in Sydney, NSW Australia to Tamillas Mappin and Eliza (Jones) Mappin, and had siblings Tamillas Rose Mappin, Stephen Mappin, and Eliza Grace (Mappin) Durham. He was in a relationship with Annie Frances Evelyn (Anderson) Mappin, and had children William Harold Kingsly Mappin and Tamillas Robert Mappin. William Mappin died at age 102 years old in 1943 in Camberwell, Boroondara City County, VIC, and was buried at Boroondara General Cemetery 430 High St, in Kew.

In 1841, in the year that William Spence Mappin was born, on March 4th, William Henry Harrison was inaugurated as the ninth President of the United States. On April 4th, President Harrison died of pneumonia, becoming the first President who died in office - as well as the American president with the shortest term ever served. Vice-President John Tyler immediately became the tenth President of the United States.
