William Weymouth of Tasmania Australia was born on August 25, 1818 at Portsea Island in Portsmouth, Portsmouth County, England United Kingdom. He was married to Catherine (Hubbard) Weymouth, and had children William Anderson Weymouth, George Weymouth, Emily Jane Weymouth, Alfred Weymouth, Henry Weymouth, Helen "Nellie" Weymouth, Elizabeth Weymouth, Clara Weymouth, Claud Weymouth, and Florence Weymouth. William Weymouth died at age 45 years old on August 28, 1863.

In 1818, in the year that William Weymouth was born, on April 4th, the United States Congress adopted the official flag of the United States. It had 13 red and white stripes - representing the original 13 colonies - and one star for each state (twenty at the time) with additional stars to be added whenever a new state was added to the Union.

In 1822, he was only 4 years old when on May 26th, 116 people died in the Grue Church fire - the biggest fire disaster in Norway's history. On Pentecost, the church was packed and a fire broke out on the outer wall of the southern transept. Within 15 minutes, the whole church was on fire and it burned to the ground. Almost half of the dead were under 16 and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
