Wilma Irene (Eatherly) Yochum 1922 - 1974

Wilma Irene (Eatherly) Yochum was born on April 9, 1922 in Arkansas United States to George Washington Eatherly and Rebecca (Smith) Eatherly. She married Luscion Mack Beede and they later divorced. They had children Janice Pauline Beede, Luscion Edward (Mack) Beede, Wanda Laverne Beede, Rebecca Jane Beede, and Mary Anna Beede. She married Luther Biggs and they later divorced. They had a child Wilma Louise Biggs. She married Cleo Yochum, and they were married until Cleo's death circa December 25, 1969. Wilma Yochum died at age 52 years old in December 1974 in Leonard, Tulsa County, OK.

In 1922, in the year that Wilma Irene (Eatherly) Yochum was born, the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C. on May 30th. More than 35,000 people attended the dedication including Lincoln's son, Robert Todd Lincoln, and many Union and Confederate veterans - although the audience was segregated. The Memorial took 10 years to complete.

In 1935, at the age of just 13 years old, Wilma was alive when on August 14, the Social Security Act was signed into law. The purpose was to "provide federal assistance to those unable to work". The law established the Social Security Administration whose primary focus was to "provide aid for the elderly, the unemployed, and children". The Act survived many Supreme Court challenges and the Administration continues until today.
