Frank Donner and his brothers were reunited after nearly 40 years. Their mother, Lydia Waltz Donner who married Samuel Donner, had died when they were children. After her death, they were placed with various family members in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. Herbert "Bert" was a photographer, with two of his brothers Henry and Lawrence, under the name of Donner Bros near Watertown and Appleton, Wisconsin.
