Yoshio Takashima was repatriated from the United States to Japan on the S.S Gripsholm on June 18, 1942
Yoshio, or Taka-chan, as my family called him worked for my grandfather, Chimata Sumida, at an appliance store in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, California. They were both arrested on an FBI warrant, January 19, 1942 . After spending time in the Los Angeles jail, Tuna Canyon Detention Center, and Ft. Missoula Internment Camp in Montana, he was deported back to Japan on June 18, 1942. Even though I never met him, my family has often wondered what happened to him and his family when they got back to Japan.
