In 1809, by the time he was 16 years old, on December 30th, Boston Massachusetts banned the wearing of masks at balls. Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.

In 1824, Zebulon was 31 years old when in May through July, King Kamehameha II of Hawaii and his wife Queen Kamāmalu - who was his half-sister - travelled for a state visit to London. While in London, they both contracted measles and died a week apart.
