1st Lt. Bill Schwenke of Elmira, NY, USA beside his fighter plane. He was killed 11 March 1944 when he attempted to parachute from his damaged plane over the English Channel. His chute did not open. He was listed as missing, and his body was not recovered.
Date & Place: at Air Base in Bodney, England United Kingdom
