US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served the 37th (1983 to 1993) and 44th Congressional Districts (1993 to 1995) from the State of California in the United States House of Representatives. He enlisted with the United States Marine Corps towards the closing months of World War II and later served during the Korean War. Following his return home, he worked as a dealer in the automobile and truck industry. He entered the political arena, when he served as a member of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors from 1972 until 1982. From 1974 to 1982, he was a member of the Riverside County Housing Authority. During his tenure in Congress, he took a Conservative approach and was known for his efforts to reduce government spending. He was succeeded by Sonny Bono in 1995.
