Allen D. Owen
Allen D. Owen a famous US Marine and Smokejumper. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was rejected because of his short stature standing at only four foot 11 inches tall. He had to receive Congressional approval by the United States Congress in order to join the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served as a member of the Elite United States Marine Corps Recon. After serving three tours in Vietnam he returned back to the States where he joined the United States Forest Service as a smokejumper once again he had to seek Congressional approval because the forest service denied him for his short stature. He remained a smoke jumper until his death in 1981 when he died in a skydiving accident. He's a legend among both United States Marines and United States Smokejumpers.
