Anne Marie Kriege's father was Anthony Anton Braunger (1870 - 1956), born in Germany, and her mother was Magdalena Lena Hensler (1871 - 1900). She had siblings Anna, Marie, John Joseph, Grace Catherine, Cecelia Edith, Paul Eugene, Francis Charles, Margaret, Max Anthony, Catherine Elizabeth "Betty", Helen Jean, and Richard Joseph Braunger. When "Annie", as she was then known, was 7 years old, she lived with her parents and uncle Jessie Hensler, 21, in Sioux City, Iowa. Dad was a butcher and Annie was in school Uncle Jessie was a domestic. Anne Marie Braunger married John Fredrick Kriege II (1889 - 1945) on November 25, 1920, in Woodbury Iowa and they had four children: 3 girls and a boy, John Fred, Constance, Marion, and Joanne Kriege.
