No one did. The Nazis wanted to make a statement. The entire family was murdered the moment they got to Auschwitz. The parents Odette and Andre were part of a group (I think the leaders) of a network to save Jewish children from the Nazis.

KellieAnne Smith Foreman so you think he’s taking all their possessions, even the gold in people’s teeth, starving then gassing and burying them in his mass graves? Heavens, where is that happening? 🤔

April Williams it sickens me to my core when people compare the border wall to concentration camps! Seriously, they could just turn around and walk back to where they came from. Jews couldn't.

What an unimaginably sad and horrific thing. Such a lovely family ~ but many more families just like them were decimated during that tragic era. Evil knows no bounds at times. Reposez-vous dans la paix éternelle (Rest in eternal peace.)

The Nazis kept lots of records with the names of the people they took to the camps and murdered. It's surprising how much information there actually is. In some cities in Europe (such as Koblenz Germany) they have plaques set in the sidewalks outside of homes where some of the victims lived. The plaques have the names, the camps they were shipped to and the dates they were murdered.

I have come across this family's name more than once when I've been doing research into the Holocaust in France. Not only was this family influential, but Odette Kahn Baur and Andre Baur (the parents of the children) led a group of people in the rescue of Jewish children. The rescuers also included well known French diarist Hélène Berr, who was also murdered during the Holocaust.
