I love it. .love the hats and out fits. I wonder if they are brothers and sisters.? ..love old pictures. .
Th women seated opposite each other were sisters. The woman on the far left is Minna Marie Christine (Sieckman) Koeppen and the woman seated far left is Dorathea Sophia Marie Louise (Sieckman) Knoll, who was my great great grandmother. She had the prettiest blue eyes. She was the oldest. Her brother Friedrich Wilhelm Conrad Sieckman is standing above her. They were eleven years apart, Dora the oldest. She was seven years older than Minna. The two others are Friedrich Heinrich Behling and his wife Martha Minnie (Steffen) Behling. Fred Behling were the Sieckman siblings' maternal cousin. They were all from Germany.

Because photography at the time was very long. It took between 1 to 2 minutes to have the image processed. Hence why everyone looks relaxed in the face or serious and not smiling. It also was an expenisive hobby.

The young men look as though they might be twins, and their hats are too small! :-)
They were cousins. Fred Behling and Fred Sieckman. Fred Behling looked just like his father Conrad Behling and Fred Sieckman looked just like his mother Marie (Behling) Sieckman. Marie and Conrad were brother and sister.

When you see women, even into the 1950's wearing hats and gloves, and men in hats, it looks so more civilized. Even as a child, Easter outfits included a new dress and spring coat, new shoes, an Easter hat, and gloves. We looked so "together."

Nothing is stopping anyone from bringing them back...👒

New hats were taken to a Dresser to be decorated with flowers and ribbons.
Thanks for sharing the photo of my great great grandmother Dora Sieckman Knoll (seated right)! Her siblings are Minnie Sieckman Koeppen (seated left) and Fred Sieckman (standing right). The other man standing next to Fred Sieckman is their maternal cousin Fred Behling and his wife (center) Martha Minnie Steffen Behling. Taken in 1909.
This is a colorized photograph of Fred Sieckman (the man in the hats photograph standing right) with his mother (also the mother of the two women seated opposite each other, Minna and Dora). Her name was Maria Dorothee Louise Sieckman nee Behling. Taken in 1893 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was 11 at the time and his mother was 46.
A young Dora (seated, as well as seated left in the hats photo) and Minna (seated opposite Dora in the hats photo). Dora was 22 and Minna was 15. Taken in 1893 a little after they came over from Germany.
