There are so many aspects to this photo that are of the time: the dogs in the bar, the prices, hot beer?, the sign that says "If your wife can't cook, eat here and keep her for a pet"??? Oh my!

I think the sign says "Hot Beef", a staple in many bars at the time.

I'd never heard of it put that way, but it makes sense. Silly me, an "F" that looks like an "R". With all the beer drinkers in my family . . . :)

the guy that is angry and the guy in the glasses remind me of The Grapes of Wrath. The guy with the glasses most likely has low vision, the dog on the stool and puppy on his lap echo "gee George can I pet the rabbit?", I am going to go out on a limb and say this is a MILLER ad
