Burt Reynolds, 1978
A photo of Burt Reynolds on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" in 1978. Comedian Steve Martin dared him to shave his famous mustache - Burt borrowed a razor from a prop man and shaved half of his mustache off. He also put a prop arrow on his head! While Burt was known as a sex symbol (remember his "Cosmopolitan" nude centerfold in 1972?) he was also famous for his sense of humor.

Born Burton Leon Reynolds Jr. on February 11, 1936 in Lansing Michigan, Burt died on September 6, 2018 in Jupiter Florida. He had one son who was born in 1988. His cause of death has been listed as cardiac arrest. RIP, Mr Reynolds.
Date & Place: in Burbank, Los Angeles County, California United States

Burt Reynolds died this morning at the age of 82. A huge 1970s sex symbol, he also had an active sense of humor.

Of course hers is more. She took erything from the guy. She was high maintenance and he said he couldn't afford her. Yes he was a jerk, and she was a plastic Barbie.

I saw Smokey and the bandit sum 15 times when it hit theaters in 1977.
Him and Jackie Gleason as sheriff Buford T Justice made that movie.

I watched him recently on some car custom tv show. He was autographing the glove box of a restored 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am identical to the one he drove as The Bandit. , Time was never good to him. That was about 6 months ago and he looked terrible.

Enjoyed him so much throughout his life and career. Never a dull moment and yes he had a great sense of humor. He said he always regretted posing for the centerfold poster in Cosmo. I bought the big poster. lol It's rolled up in a tube packed away. RIP Burt, you did good.x

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
