Carl Anthony Costell
Carl Anthony Costell was born on January 30, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio to Austrian parents John Costell (1887-) and Jennie Stavanna (1886-1960). He grew up in a large family with siblings Victor, Jennie, John, Frank, Joe, Bernard, and Mary Costell. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio and was a graudate of the University of Dayton. At the age of 24, he registered for the WWII draft on October 16, 1940. Carl then enlisted in the Air Force on January 13, 1942, at MacDill Field in Florida.
