Carolyn Murphy Lewis was born February 6, 1929 in Augusta, Maine to Ronald Charles and Alma Erskine (McLellan) Murphy. Carolyn has lived the past five months in Bastrop. She was formerly of Rockdale for 17 years and had lived in Gilmer and Tyler area. On November 29, 1951, she and Arthur Eugene Lewis were married in Vinton, Louisiana. Carolyn worked with her husband in their heating and air conditioning business and was also a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale. Carolyn passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Bastrop, reaching the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Eugene Lewis on January 15, 1998. Surviving; Son, Vic Lewis of Georgetown. Daughters, Jeannie Dubbel of Bastrop, Susan Conolly and husband Michael of Azle, Sandra Lewis and husband William Wilson of Austin. 4 grandchildren, Andrew Dubbel and wife Samantha of Huntsville, Alabama, Laura Dubbel of Austin, Geoffrey Dubbel of Austin and Cozmo Lewis of Georgetown. Visitation will be 2PM to 5PM Thursday, February 25th, at the funeral home. Funeral service; 11:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2010 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Jack Chelf officiating. Serving as pallbearers; Geoffrey Dubbel, Cozmo Lewis, Roston Pash, Vic Lewis, William Wilson and Buddy Hatcher.
