Christmas at the Salas Home in Brooklyn
Sal so loved hosting the family at the Brooklyn house, which was the biggest and held lots of people. Spacious dining room, kitchen and living room. Decorating the house for Christmas holds so many great memories. Starting with the smell of home made Christmas cookies in all kinds of shapes, my favorite: the red and white candy cane cookies. We would have cookies and egg nog as we (mom, dad, Paul and I) decorated the tree with ornaments (after my father had the lights working and strung) to Christmas albums playing on their stereo system, I can still hear Sleigh Ride in my mind. I would often fall asleep under the tree listening to the Christmas music and staring at the lights. We always received new "footsie pajamas" for Christmas and the dogs received new Christmas sweaters every year. Many Christmas' we enjoyed singing carols around the organ or piano in the living room. Seen here son Paul, Sal's beloved dachshund and hunting partner, Samantha, nephews Dennis (son of Elba) and Michael and niece Jeannette Hughes (children of Rosie).
