William Crooks Jr. was born on June 20, 1832 in New York, New York County, New York United States to Marianne Pélagie Émilie "Emilie" (Pratte) Crooks and Ramsay J. Crooks, Sr., and has siblings Emilie (Crooks) Noel, Marguerite "Margaret" (Crooks) Plunkett, Virginie (Crooks) Gourd, Ramsay J. Crooks, Jr., Captain Bernard Crooks, Sylvester Crooks, Charles Crooks, and Julia Mary Crooks. He married Harriet Marie (Shiels) Crooks, and they had children Harriet Marie "Marie" (Crooks) Just, Bernard Shiels Crooks, and Paul Louis Crooks, Sr.. He also married Arabella L. (Hertzler) Crooks, and they had children Emilie Celeste (Crooks) Carrington, Ramsay Crooks, George C. Crooks, Charles Crooks, Julia Mary Crooks, and John Sylvester Crooks.
