Daniel Donald Dumont
UNION — Daniel Donald Dumont Sr, 73, of Union, Maine, formerly Durham, Connecticut and Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 3, 2022. He was born April 16, 1949, in Hartford, Connecticut, son of the late Roger Joseph Dumont and late Margaret (Fuller) Dumont. Dan was predeceased by his brother Richard Roger Dumont.
Dan lived life to the fullest, always reading to learn about new technology, and especially enjoyed topics such as energy efficiency. He and the love of his life, Janet Anderson Dumont, created a beautiful family, ran a successful business, and shared many meaningful friendships over the years.
There wasn’t a repair or project Dan couldn’t tackle and if didn’t already have the knowledge, he would do the research and ask the questions. He was always available to lend a hand, offer advice and blessed with the gift of gab, share a story. Dan belonged to the Northford Timber Framers where he made many friends and continued his love of woodworking. This interest precipitated building his own timber frame barn and home in Maine.
Always a perfectionist, Dan’s attention to detail resulted in a beautiful home taking advantage of the sun’s warmth for heat and the surrounding landscape for gardens for food.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Janet Anderson Dumont; three children, daughter, Diane Dumont of Middlefield, Connecticut and her partner Randy Hale of Haddam, Connecticut; sons Daniel Dumont Jr and his wife AnnMarie of Durham, Connecticut and Dennis Dumont and his wife Heather of Brandenburg, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jordan Gilbert and his wife Zoya, Zachary Gilbert, Dylan Gilbert, Jamie Breton, Samuel Breton, Mikaela Dumont, Daniel Dumont III, James Dumont, Andrew Dumont and his wife Kelsey, and Habtamu Asfaw.
Dan also leaves Skylar and Randy Hale, who he treated as grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, Isaac Gilbert.
Dan also leaves many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews who all held a special place in his heart. Dan has many friends, he considered family, too many to list, and you know who you are.
