Daniel William Souders

William Souders first shows up in Sharpsburg Washington County Md. in 1827. He is found in Washington Co. Md.,Land index page 165. He's listed directly under Daniel Souders. William and Daniel both purchased property off of the decease John Jones Hays. William Price was the executor for Mr. Hays estate. Daniel Souders who appears directly above William can be found in the 1820 census Libertytown District eight. Daniel is head of household with 5 males and two females. Daniel is said to have been born abt.1788. Daniel is documented marrying Margaret Beeler in 1815. Deeds dated after 1820 for Daniel in Frederick County Md. Land Records list him as a resident of Washington County with wife Margaret. Daniel’s known child David B. Souders appears to be the youngest male boy in this census. Daniel’s father was Jacob W. Souders. Jacob Souders passed away in 1820. His wife Elizabeth Rohrer Souders is listed in the 1820 census as head of household with 2 males and 5 females. William's age based on obituary write-ups and census indicates he would be one of the three young men 16/26 years old of either both Elizabeth or Daniel. William's daughter Mazella Suman Stockman obituary listed her parents as Daniel Souders and Sophia Weddle.(The News Frederick Md. Jan. 24,1944) Up until this time family only knew his given name to be William. This suggest Daniel Souders may indeed be Daniel William Souders father. Update - DNA test reveals they are related but distantly. Recent records in Berk Pa suggest George Souder with land warrant 1734 and Adam Souder , same area with land warrant 1740 may be William’s family line. William is three generations or less related to Jacob W Sowder born 1734 who migrated Virginia in 1789.
