Officer Romero, a 23-year veteran of the California Highway Patrol (assigned to the Santa Fe Springs office) was killed while on patrol when his motorcycle was struck from behind by a reckless and under-the-influence driver.
He was eulogized as a devoted husband and father who enjoyed dirt bike riding, water skiing, coaching the sports his children participated in and playing practical jokes on his friends. Officer Romero is survived by his wife Sandra; children Austin, Windsor and David; stepchildren Victor and Vanessa; his brother, Gregory Romero, and sisters Lydia Huard and Sylvia Romero.
