David Radford Martin Military Record: Promotion to Corporal.
David Radford Martin, enlistment registry number 809, entered active duty in
the US Army March 7, 1912, at Columbus Barracks, Columbus Ohio. He was
assigned to Company C, of the 3rd Regiment of Infantry. David Radford Martin
was promoted to Corporal on July 19, 1914, and was honorable discharged, on
March 6, 1915. David Radford Martin was processed initially at Middlesboro,
Bell County, Kentucky.

David Radford Martin was the son John Dalton Martin & Lucy Frances Johnson.

David Radford Martin married Nannette Serena Walters on December 15, 1915, at
David's parent's home in Gray, Knox County, Kentucky. They were the parents
of Vernon Eugene Martin & Theodore Roosevelt Martin. David Radford Martin
perished on October 22, 1918 during the 1918 Influenza pandemic at Corbin,
Kentucky. He had been working for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad at the
time of death, and was buried on his parents farm.

David Radford Martin is the patrilineal grandfather of Ian Oliver Martin, and great grandfather of Ian Oliver Martin's children, Sunny Brooke, Martin, Luke William Martin, and Raquel Rocio Martin. Luke William Martin' son and daughter, Axel Martin and Raven Martin
are David Radford Martin' great great grandchildren.

Recorded at Knox County Clerk, Barbourville, KY on book A-3, page 83 Death from influenza, pneumonia fever from October 17, 1918 to October 22, 1918. Death at 5PM!-Dr. James Walker Parker. David was going to be buried at the Scott Chapel Cemetery with his grandfather Valentine "Cub" George Martin who died in 1911. A change of plans resulted in David's burial the grounds on his parents John Dalton Martin & Lucy Francis Johnson homestead, in Gray, Knox County, Kentucky. Both David's parents were buried with him when they too perished as were David's brothers Samuel and James and their wives. In 2011, David's son Vernon Eugene Martin's cremains were also spread on David's burial area, and covered with a marker.

David Radford Martin was a son of John Dalton Martin & Lucy Frances Johnson who were married on February 16, 1891 in Tennessee. David was born in Gray, Knox County, Kentucky. He joined the US Army in March 7, 1912 at Middlesboro, Kentucky and was honorably discharged on March 6, 1915 as a Corporal with the 3rd US Regiment of Infantry, Madison Barrack, New York. David married Nannette Serena Walters on December 24, 1915, in Gray, Knox County, Kentucky. The were parents of Vernon Eugene Martin 1916-1985 and Theodore Roosevelt Martin 1918-1918. David is the paternal grandfather, via son Vernon Eugene Martin (aka Mike Striebel) of Ian Oliver Martin, Erika Stark Striebel, Karen Diane Striebel and Jan Patricia Striebel, and the great grand father of their children.
