Dee Dee Belson

Dee Dee Jean Bellson was the adopted daughter of actress and singer Pearl Bailey and jazz drummer Louie Bellson, who were married. Rumored to be the biological daughter of Louie Bellson, she had a brother named Anthony Paul Bellson (1954 - 1990). As a child, Dee Dee had the opportunity to travel with her adoptive mother, Pearl Bailey, on tour and she occasionally made appearances on Pearl's television show. These experiences undoubtedly influenced her passion for music and performance. As she grew older, Dee Dee Bellson pursued a professional career as a jazz singer. Her talent and dedication led her to tour extensively around the world, sharing her remarkable voice with audiences everywhere. She had the privilege of performing alongside her father's band and lending her vocals to albums by renowned jazz artists such as Weather Report and Wayne Shorter. Dee Dee's musical journey extended beyond the jazz genre as well. She had the opportunity to work with notable figures in the music industry, providing backup vocals for acclaimed acts like the Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, and Sheena Easton. Her versatility and ability to collaborate with such diverse artists showcased her remarkable vocal range and adaptability. Sadly, Dee Dee Bellson's life was cut short by a heart attack at the age of 49. She left behind a longtime companion named John Noble and their cherished dog, Caleb. Her passing marked the loss of a talented and beloved artist. Dee Dee's parents and brother had preceded her in death.
