My Grandparents marriage ended shortly after their youngest son's birth in 1945. Don remarried while the children were fairly young to a Rhoda M. They bred and showed Schipperkke dogs for the American Kennel Association for many years. He was a member of the Masons of Indiana for many years. After Rhoda's death in the early 1970's, he moved to California to live with his eldest daughter, Mary and her husband. He began losing his eyesight in the 1970's. By the late 1970's, he was legally blind. He had a degenerative eye disease. Even blind, he loved to garden, cook, tell stories and listen to TV and radio shows. My siblings and I have fond memories of memorable times spend with Grandpa at his trailer off Old Oakland Road in San Jose, CA.
