Assistant Chief Edward Jones was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a call. His vehicle struck a patch of ice, went out of control, and struck a tree head-on. Assistant Chief Jones had served with the Polk County Police Department for 15 years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
