George Shank Graft was born on June 18, 1854 to Jacob Graft and Harriet Shank. He had siblings Henrietta "Etta" Graft (1859-1932), Minervi Graft (1862-1945), Minnie Evans (1862-1945), Cynthia May Graft (1864-1948), Charles S Graft (1867-1962), Zella Graft (1870-1955), Norman Shank Graft (1873-1957), and Artie Graft (1877-1924). He was born, raised, and spent most of his life in Scottdale, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. In 1875, he married Mary H Eicher (1858–1905) in Pennsylvania and together they had Ella Vermelia Graft (1876-1920), John Victor Graft (1878-1954), Martha Harriet Graft (1882-1958), Cynthia E Graft (1885-1951), Jacob Reaves Graft (1887-1918), Sarah A Graft (1889-1957), and Mary Kate Graft (1894-1974). He worked as a brick layer and general laborer and on February 6, 1941, George Graft passed away in Scottdale, PA.
