I have a group of 11 photographs belonging to the WHITCOMB Family of Indiana including the following:
1 - Harriet WHITCOMB, taken at the Crutchfield & Covert Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1880's, woman in her 70's
2 - George WHITCOMB, taken at the Howland Studio in Cincinnati, OH, 1870's or 1880's, in his teens or 20's
3 - George WHITCOMB, taken at the Crutchfield Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1890's, in his 20's
4 - Ida WHITCOMB and Florence, taken at the Tharp Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1880's, woman in 20's or 30's with child about 3 years
5 - Ida WHITCOMB, taken at Howland Studio in Cincinnati, OH, 1870's or 1880's, in her 20's
6 - George K. WHITCOMB, taken at Howland Studio in Cincinnati, OH, 1880's, in his 20's
7 - Edith WHITCOMB, taken at Tharp Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1880's, about 4 years
8 - Ed WHITCOMB, taken at Otto White Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1890's or early 1900's, in his teens
9 - same photo of Ed WHITCOMB
10 - Ed WHITCOMB, taken at Chicago Studio, no loc., 1890's, about 8 - 10 years
11 - Eddie WHITCOMB, taken at Tharp Studio in North Vernon, IN, 1880's, 6-7 years

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

George Kendrick WHITCOMB was b. 22 Oct 1858 in Vernon, IN to parents Edward Smith WHITCOMB (1820-1890) and Harriet KENDRICK (b. 1823 or 1824) who were married 7 Sept 1845 in Vernon, IN. George was one of four children born to this couple including Ella Jane; Ebert or Elbert C.; Emma E.; and George Kendrick WHITCOMB, all born between 1848 and 1858. George married Ida BRANT or BRYANT (1858-1952) on 17 Mar 1880 in Ripley Co., IN and they had two children including Edward Charles WHITCOMB (1881-1926) and Florence Harriett WHITCOMB HINCHMAN (1883-1969). George died 16 Aug 1916 in Vernon, IN and is buried in the Vernon Cemetery in that city.

His mother Harriet KENDRICK was b. 2 Mar 1824 in Vernon, IN to Major KENDRICK (1799-1856) and Wealthy HARTWELL (1802-1874 or 1803-1870) and she had four siblings including Huldah or Hulda; George W.; Jackson L.; and Hannah KENDRICK, all born between 1826 and 1837. She and Edward Smith WHITCOMB married 7 Sept 1845 in Vernon, IN.

Ida BRANT or BRYANT was b. Jan 1859 in Virginia and died in 1952 and is buried in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, IN along with her husband.

Edward Charles WHITCOMB was b. 25 Aug 1881 in North Vernon, IN to these parents and married Amelia Caroline “Molly” or “Mollie” BRINKMAN (1884-1962) of Garrett, IN on 2 Feb 1907 in Fort Wayne, IN. Edward was a traveling salesman and he died 10 Oct 1926 in Indianapolis, IN and is buried in the Vernon Cemetery along with his parents.

Florence Harriett WHITCOMB was b. 17 Aug 1883 in North Vernon, IN to these parents and married Roy HINCHMAN (1881-1953) on 6 Sept 1904 in Jennings Co. IN. They had two daughters including Harriet or Harriett Elizabeth HINCHMAN (1905-1998) and Helen Jean HINCHMAN ROSEBERRY (1908-1975). Florence died 27 Dec 1969 and is buried along with the family in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, IN.

Edith WHITCOMB was b. 26 Oct 1884 or 1886 in Jennings Co., IN to Elbert C. WHITCOMB (b. 1850) and Margaret “Marg” or “Maggie” Lloyd JONES (1854-1914) who were married 27 Sept 1875 in Jennings Co., IN. Edith was one of 5 children born to this couple including Cecil E.; Mabel or Mable Clara or Clare; Roy Jones; Edith; and Margaret Lloyd WHITCOMB, all born between 1877 and 1893. Edith died 30 Oct 1951 in Jefferson Co., IN and she is buried in the Vernon Cemetery along with family in Vernon, IN.
