George Kidd
Civil War 1861-1865 American Civil War - George Kidd enlisted in the Kentucky (Union) 47th mounted Infantry on July 1863 at the age of 53. He died of smallpox at Covington, Kentucky on June 24, 1864 while his unit was engaged in a battle with John Hunt Morgan during his invasion of Kentucky. George Kidd was my 3rd Great Grandfather. His oldest son Demarcus was my 2nd Great Grandfather, then his son William Ervin Kidd my 1st Great grandfather. My grandfather was Walt Seely Kidd. George and several sons fought on opposite sides in the Civil War. A family torn apart by war. I have proven this line extensively over the last 50 years. Cousin Mary Payne, 2nd great granddaughter of George's youngest son Newton Gaston Kidd, has also researched that branch of the family extensively. We have proven the family and descendants every step of the way. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. ~~~Roni McFadden

Only Child of Ernest C. Kidd and Alma G. Kidd Grandson to : Ernest M. Kidd of London, KY and Edna Couch Kidd of Lake Charles, La. Great Grandson to: Robert N. Kidd and Sarah M. Kidd of East Bernstadt, KY. Grandson to Jasper Gray of Flat Lick, KY and Annie Maude (Lawson) Gray of Gary, Ind. Great Grandson to Milinder Gray and Sarah Gray of Flat Lick, KY. Sixth Great Grandson to Jordan Gray who served at Valley Forge. **Information on my Kidd branch of the family tree on Find A Grave by M. E. Payne and Ronnie McFadden (aka blue jay) is mostly incorrect. M.E. Payne claims falsely to be a "close" first cousin to my grandfather Kidd yet can not tell you anything personal about him although she lived next door to him and never attended any family reunions or events. Ronnie McFadden's third great grandfather is a sibling of my third great grandfather George Kidd. She has never met or spoken to any of my direct family and assumes incorrectly about this branch of family history. The info I have noted on my site has been passed down by word of mouth by my father - his siblings, grandfather - his siblings as well as my great grandmother Sarah and from our family bible (written in it) that I am in possession of. Anything that I am not 100% sure of, I note as such. I can be contacted at [contact link] for any needed info.
